Why the SleekFlow vs Intercom decision changed in 2026
In May 2026, Intercom renamed the company Fin after its AI agent, and kept Intercom as the name of the customer service platform. A month later, on 15 Jun 2026, Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Fin for roughly US$3.6 billion, with the close expected in Salesforce's fiscal fourth quarter of 2027.
The product is unchanged and the deal has not closed. What changes is who sets the product plan. Sign a two-year Intercom contract now and Salesforce controls the roadmap for most of that term.
Price the acquisition risk into the contract. The purchase itself turns on where your customers start the conversation, and channels, AI agents, support depth, security, and pricing all follow from that one answer. This comparison works through them in order, then recommends one for a messaging-led brand.
SleekFlow or Intercom: which should you choose?
Intercom is a helpdesk platform built around a chat widget you own, with ticketing, SLAs, and the Fin AI agent on top. SleekFlow is an AI suite for conversations on messaging apps, where one agent handles the sales question and the support ticket in one thread. In our view, Intercom suits web-led support teams, SleekFlow messaging-led B2C brands.
Intercom vs SleekFlow at a glance
Intercom prices per seat and meters its AI by outcome. SleekFlow prices on monthly active contacts and bundles AI usage. Both are SOC 2 Type II and ISO 42001 certified, with different vertical and regional coverage beyond that. The table below reflects each provider's own public pages as of Aug 2026.

How Intercom and SleekFlow differ, feature by feature
Intercom and SleekFlow overlap on inbox, ticketing, and AI resolution, and diverge on which channel the work was designed around. Intercom's lineage is the website Messenger widget, with other channels connected later. SleekFlow's is WhatsApp and Instagram, with web chat extending outward from there.
Channels: where customers can reach you
Intercom supports Messenger on web, iOS, and Android, plus email, phone, WhatsApp, SMS, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and Slack, per its channels documentation updated in July 2026. Email and phone are shipped, mature parts of the product, which matters if most of your volume still arrives that way.
SleekFlow's channel depth sits in messaging apps: WhatsApp Business API, Instagram, Messenger, SMS, TikTok, WeChat, LINE, Telegram, Viber, and a website chat widget, all into one omnichannel inbox.
Intercom covers the classic support stack more completely today. SleekFlow covers more of the apps a B2C customer actually opens, including TikTok, WeChat, LINE, and Viber.
AI agents: helpdesk resolution against messaging-native automation
Both platforms ship a capable AI agent. The difference is which channels it can work in. Intercom's blog reported in March 2026 that Fin's average resolution rate across its customer base had reached 76%. That figure is self-reported, not independently audited, and predates Intercom's own shift from resolutions to outcomes as the billing unit, so treat it as directional.
On the SleekFlow side, Brazilian insurtech Elétron Seguros reports that 80% of conversations are resolved by AI, with the remaining 20% transferred to a human. Also self-reported, and a single customer rather than a fleet average, so the two numbers aren't a like-for-like benchmark.
Fin reasons over help center articles and past tickets inside the helpdesk. AgentFlow's Inbound Agent runs inside the messaging thread itself, cites the source behind each reply, and hands off with the full conversation attached rather than opening a fresh ticket.
Gartner research reported in April 2026 found 74% of customer service organizations had deployed at least one AI use case, while only 20% had reduced agent headcount. So both vendors having an AI agent separates neither of them. What happens when the agent can't answer: whether your customer repeats themselves in a fresh ticket, or a human picks up the same thread.
Sales and lifecycle marketing
Intercom is built around the shared inbox and helpdesk rather than a sales pipeline. Broader engagement lives in the Proactive Support Plus add-on at US$99 per month, covering posts, product tours, and surveys, per its pricing page.
SleekFlow builds lead qualification, appointment booking, and pipeline actions into the Inbound Agent, with broadcast campaigns and Social CRM segmentation in the core plans. That fits brands where the same WhatsApp thread carries a pre-sales question on Monday and a delivery complaint on Thursday.
Support and ticketing depth
Intercom's helpdesk lineage is a real advantage here. Its shared inbox, ticketing, SLAs, and multibrand help centers on higher tiers suit teams that need granular routing and detailed reporting across a large agent roster.
SleekFlow covers the same workflow with AI-assisted resolution layered across messaging channels. For very complex ticket queues with heavy SLA and routing requirements, Intercom is the deeper product today.
Security and compliance
Intercom holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 27018, ISO 42001, HIPAA, HDS, and AIUC-1, per its own security documentation. HIPAA and HDS make it the straightforward choice for a support team handling protected health data.
SleekFlow is SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certified, and GDPR compliant, with CCPA and CPRA for California alongside PDPA, PIPL, and LGPD in its privacy program. That covers B2C operators in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, and the ISO 42001 certification specifically covers how the AI itself is governed.
How much do SleekFlow and Intercom cost?
Intercom charges from US$29 to US$132 per seat monthly across Essential, Advanced, and Expert, plus US$0.99 for every Fin resolution on top. SleekFlow charges on monthly active contacts, from US$149 a month for 500 or more contacts, with AI usage bundled in rather than metered per resolution.
Intercom's seat cost is fixed and predictable. The outcome fee is not, and it climbs with how much work the AI does, so a successful AI rollout raises the bill. Since March 2026 that fee triggers on an outcome, meaning Fin completing the action it was configured to perform, which fires more often than a full resolution.
SleekFlow's bill moves with active contacts instead. AI volume adds no line item, and stored contacts cost nothing: a contact counts only when someone actually exchanges a message that month. The trade is that a busy month costs more regardless of how much of the work the AI took on.
Where you break even depends on your seat-to-AI ratio. A 5-agent team resolving a few thousand AI interactions a month usually lands with SleekFlow; a 40-agent team with modest AI volume usually lands with Intercom. WhatsApp and SMS carry separate pass-through messaging fees on both platforms, so add those to either estimate.
When to choose Intercom, and when to choose SleekFlow
Choose Intercom if your support runs through a website widget and email, if you need deep ticketing, SLAs, and multibrand help centers, or if HIPAA and HDS coverage is required. Choose SleekFlow if most customers reach you on WhatsApp or Instagram, and you want one AI agent handling both the sale and the ticket.
Intercom operates independently until the deal closes, so the acquisition is a question about contract length, not about this quarter's service.
A high resolution rate also tells you nothing about the conversations the AI hands over. A Pegasystems survey run by YouGov across 4,700 consumers found two-thirds prefer human-led support, and only 2% wanted to deal exclusively with a generative AI chatbot. Whichever platform you pick, budget attention for the escalated conversations, not only the deflected ones.
Some teams run both through a transition, keeping Intercom for web and email while messaging volume moves onto SleekFlow. That works as a bridge, though you are paying two AI bills for one customer base, so set an end date before you start.
The verdict for messaging-led B2C brands
Intercom is the stronger fit for a team whose support lives on its own website. If your customers open WhatsApp or Instagram instead, SleekFlow puts the sale and the support ticket in the same thread, with no handoff between systems, and one AI agent working both.
Aura Afro, a Brazilian e-commerce brand selling bioprotein fiber wigs, runs WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger through SleekFlow with an AgentFlow agent named AurIA. It reports:
88% first-contact resolution
More than 70% reduction in average wait time
42% reduction in average handling time
47% reduction in losses from interrupted conversations
AI without a process simply automates disorganization. When there is a well-structured playbook in place, SleekFlow can turn customer service into a scalable, trackable, and more efficient operation.
